Great software so far. Easy access to documentation and excellent support from Aconex. Additionally, it provided project teams with a clear process flow for project delivery. All users can easily comprehend the email interface within the software, and if they are familiar with email, they are also familiar with Aconex.
Cons
The pricing of the software can be high. Searches at the moment are still quite basic. Also, the BIM viewer tab might be enhanced by introducing new functionality, or, even better, by having a full-featured BIM viewer that could recognize RVT and Bentley 3D files without having to convert them to IFCs.

Offers a global platform that enables numerous users to collaborate. New files can be easily added to the system. You wont lose any correspondence because all mail is stored in the Mail module and cannot be deleted. No file size restriction.
Cons
Having to use the pre-loaded mail form titles that Aconex has provided for the system has been a bit problematic for me. When working on the backend of the system, where you might need to make a change, it is possible to occasionally become confused given the complexities of the software.

This evaluation is actually based on the initial phases of configuration and implementation. We are still working to put together a structure that is flexible for us, the contractors, and how we collaborate, given our current situation. But as of right now, all of our problems have been resolved, thankfully.
Cons
There are definitely some major issues that need to be changed. This software is not meant for overall program management and does not offer a way of monitoring action items, finance, or change management. etc. The fact that this structure is not based on folders presents the biggest challenge.

I admire Aconexs ability to work within any existing policies and procedures. Although not forcing you to do things a certain way, it also doesnt need a lot of configuration when you first start using it. Another thing I appreciate about Aconex is how frequently it adds important new features.
Cons
Not a con, but it would be wonderful to have better controls. Also, it uses the status of the previous version for the new version. If you fail to choose a new status, the draft of the next revision of the document can appear in the document register as authorized.

The redundancy and unintuitiveness of metadata are drawbacks. If the software could automatically extract metadata from a file number or name it would make sense. However as it is everything must be slowly added in triplicate.

Cons

Great software so far. Easy access to documentation and excellent support from Aconex. Additionally, it provided project teams with a clear process flow for project delivery. All users can easily comprehend the email interface within the software, and if they are familiar with email, they are also familiar with Aconex.
Cons
The pricing of the software can be high. Searches at the moment are still quite basic. Also, the BIM viewer tab might be enhanced by introducing new functionality, or, even better, by having a full-featured BIM viewer that could recognize RVT and Bentley 3D files without having to convert them to IFCs.

Offers a global platform that enables numerous users to collaborate. New files can be easily added to the system. You wont lose any correspondence because all mail is stored in the Mail module and cannot be deleted. No file size restriction.
Cons
Having to use the pre-loaded mail form titles that Aconex has provided for the system has been a bit problematic for me. When working on the backend of the system, where you might need to make a change, it is possible to occasionally become confused given the complexities of the software.

This evaluation is actually based on the initial phases of configuration and implementation. We are still working to put together a structure that is flexible for us, the contractors, and how we collaborate, given our current situation. But as of right now, all of our problems have been resolved, thankfully.
Cons
There are definitely some major issues that need to be changed. This software is not meant for overall program management and does not offer a way of monitoring action items, finance, or change management. etc. The fact that this structure is not based on folders presents the biggest challenge.

I admire Aconexs ability to work within any existing policies and procedures. Although not forcing you to do things a certain way, it also doesnt need a lot of configuration when you first start using it. Another thing I appreciate about Aconex is how frequently it adds important new features.
Cons
Not a con, but it would be wonderful to have better controls. Also, it uses the status of the previous version for the new version. If you fail to choose a new status, the draft of the next revision of the document can appear in the document register as authorized.

The redundancy and unintuitiveness of metadata are drawbacks. If the software could automatically extract metadata from a file number or name it would make sense. However as it is everything must be slowly added in triplicate.

Cons
