“Simply the BEST
Pros
This is the best music editing software I have used to transform my beats just upload the .mp3 file into Audacity and do the mastering there.
Cons
Audacity can only record locally so if I need remote recording, I will have to use another tool like Riverside or Squadcast.

“Perfect for newcomers
Pros
It is pretty easy to use and very user-friendly. And the best of all is that it is free.
Cons
Well it's pretty limited in features so I will say it is not the best choice for someone looking for professional level editing.

“I use it often for audio editing
Pros
Audacity software is free and open-source which is why I liked it from the start. No need to worry about costs or monthly subscriptions. Being open source means there is a community constantly working to improve it. Also it is easy to use too as the interface is not the fanciest but it's clear and simple enough to figure out quickly. Even as a beginner I learned the basic features in no time. What I really like is the multi-track support which is essential for me when recording. As I can work on several tracks at once, edit them and mix them with no issues. Also there are plenty of built-in effects and you can add external plugins to fine tune your sound. The direct recording feature is pretty convenient too as just hit record and you are good to go.
Cons
The interface feels a bit outdated too. Though it is not bad but it is not modern either. I would prefer a cleaner design with some updates to its appearance. While functional it sometimes gives off an old-school vibe. Also it is not ideal for very complex projects so if you need to work with high-bit audio or advanced automation, Audacity might not be the best fit. For daily tasks it works great but if you are looking for something more studio-quality, you may need to explore other options. Also while it is easy for basic tasks anything more advanced requires some self-learning. There are not built-in tutorials so you will have to search online for how to guides. Another downside is that it does not support video editing. Well this is not a huge issue for me since I focus on audio but if you need to work with video, you'll need another software.

The interface is very user friendly and the thing I like the most about it is that it is completely free to use which makes it even better.
Cons
It does not come with any virtual instruments which is a bit of a downside to me.

“Works great and it is free
Pros
It is an open source audio editing software that works really well. The fact that it is free and open-source is a huge bonus. Plus it is great how we can import various audio file types without any trouble.
Cons
I have got no complaints as this program works great for me. Plus it offers all the features you would find in high-priced alternatives and for general audio editing, it's fantastic.

“Decent but a lot of improvements are needed
Pros
Audacity software is a free audio editing tool and I use it to make self help recordings for myself with plans to share them with others in the future.
Cons
You cannot import MP4 files directly so I usually convert them to MP3 using Total Recorder before importing them into it. Well it is a minor inconvenience. Also I would love a keyboard shortcut for when I place a temporary label on the soundwave to quickly return to editing the track. I have not found one yet. Also there is a challenge when recording speech or instruments. Even if you are recording multiple times in the same room with the same mic, the audio might not sound exactly the same due to environmental changes like temperature or the position of the mic. So even with Audacity's flexibility, it's best to try and record everything in one go rather than coming back to insert a line later.
